Dr. Indah Kartika Murni

Paediatric Cardiologist and Researcher

Dr Murni is a lecturer, researcher, paediatrician and paediatric cardiologist in Department of Paediatrics, Dr Sardjito Hospital/Faculty of Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. She has been coordinator of research in the Department of Paediatrics.
She undertook her medical training program at the Universitas Gadjah Mada in 1994-2000, followed by paediatric training program in 2001-2005. She did her master program in the same institution in 2001-2003. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2013 and for which she was nominated for the Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD thesis. She did her pediatric cardiology training in Universitas Indonesia in 2014 to 2016.

She received training for research, epidemiology and biostatistics, Good Clinical Practice and Trial Management in the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2011 and clinical research and evidence-based medicine at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM), Antwerp, Belgium in 2013.

Her interests center on hospital epidemiology including healthcare-associated infections, infection control and hand hygiene campaign, surveillance of infectious disease, rational use of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, international child health, quality improvement study in paediatric care, and paediatric cardiology, ie cardiac intensive care, congenital heart diseases, acquired heart diseases, and preventive cardiology.
